I finally finished Kanji in Context and learned all of the 常用漢字 (Jouyou-kanji). That only took me like 11 years or something? Wow, terribly inefficient. Better late than never!
I think it's time to apply that knowledge in more practical ways like reading.
I rarely read any manga but 岳 (Gaku) is interesting to me. I bought 5 volumes when I left Japan in 2013 and just finished the first a few weeks back. The stories of the Japanese Alps and the mountain rescue team are quite fun. There is also a lot of death and despair. Sometimes I feel like I don't know Japanese when I read the colloquial conversations in the manga.
I'm excited to dig into Japanese literature more and read in Japanese.
