兼六園 - Kenrokuen

Kenrokuen is in the middle of Kanazawa in Ishikawa prefecture. There was hardly any signage for the down town district and the whereabouts of the garden. I knew it was going to be a busy day at one of the most famous gardens in Japan. I arrived later than I had planned but certainly earlier than most people. My friend later told me that the garden is actually open for free even earlier in the morning. I found that quite odd. Yet, how many people are going to do that?

I won't include much commentary on my stroll around the park. But as a person who loves green, it was truly splendid.

I had peaceful time walking through the park. Then all my fellow Golden Week travelers showed up. It was time to move on but not before I visited the castle park nearby. That post will be short and sweet.

Some really beautiful pictures! This is definitely one of my favourite Japanese Gardens along with Korakuen in Okayama. Kenrokuen Garden is the perfect garden with just about everything. I love this place in early spring for its Plum Blossoms.

Thanks for the comment. I love when people drop me a line!

Even though I didn't see much flowering of any sort I loved the green. It was especially nice when hardly anyone was there.

Your blog is nice too. I'm going to add that to my reader list ;D
